Kamloops Symphony - Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky
The Kamloops Symphony continues their new music director search and concludes the 2016/17 season with Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky. Guest conductor Martin MacDonald will take the podium to lead the KSO for this exciting concert. The guest artist for this concert is gifted young Salmon Arm pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko, who will be performing one of Rachmaninoff’s most captivating works, "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" for piano soloist and orchestra.
Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky also takes you back to nineteenth century Pennsylvania with Copland’s most beloved “Americana” work, "Appalachian Spring", then shifts over to 1930’s France with Tailleferre’s "Overture for Orchestra", and concludes with Stravinsky’s passionate "Firebird Suite".
