Control different types of lights using the power of Arduino. Arduino is an easy tool for rapid prototyping, aimed at individuals without a background in electronics and programming. The Arduino board has a variety of applications from Internet of Things, wearable, and 3D printing. What is Arduino? Arduino is an open-source prototyping platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs – light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message – and turn it into an output – activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. In this first workshop, we will focus on lighting. You will be shown different types of lights that you can control. Cost: $20, includes materials to complete the sample projects & take home: -An Arduino nano -Few different types of lights -Small breadboard -Jumper wire You will need: -A laptop -Laptop charger, just in case -To be registered for this workshop About the Instructors This workshop will be hosted by Aras Balali Moghaddam and Ron Thompson. Aras is one of the founders of Kamloops Makerspace and Arduino is one of his favourite tools. He recently installed a sound reactive tree in downtown Kamloops that uses Arduino. Ron is an artist and maker who is well known in the Kamloops Makerspace community for his persistence and ability to finish new projects in areas that he has never dabbled in before. Ron recently restored a CNC milling machine using arduino.
