There’s lots of scrambling around during the holidays and according to Interac, December 23rd projects to once again be the busiest shopping day of the year.
Canadians are expected to spend over $1 billion on December 23rd, which was the busiest shopping day of 2014 and 2015 as well.

“One-third of Canadians said they will be shopping on December 23rd,” said Interac in a statement. “Nearly the same number who said they will be working.”
Interac says that Canadians made over 21 million transactions on December 23rd, 2015, spending a total of $1.1 billion, while just under $1 billion was spent on the date in 2014 through 19.7 million transactions.
Grocery stores were the most popular place to spend money on December 23rd with discount retailers and liquor stores coming in at second and third on that list.
