For the 2015 model, however, the issue only pertains to the Sonata Hybrid model.
According to the Transport Canada release, the issue is with the front seat belts detaching from their anchor.
“On certain vehicles, the connections between the front seat belts and the floor mounted seat belt anchor pretensioners may not have been attached properly during assembly, it says on the Transport Canada website. “This could result in a front seat belt possibly detaching from the anchor pretensioner.”
If one of these vehicles were to be involved in a collision, there’s a risk of the seat belt detaching causing injury to the seat occupant.
Once the car is returned, dealers will verify the seat belt connection and make any repairs as necessary.
