The internet-famous dog named Cooper was found on Friday morning and reunited with his owner, Terri Pittman.
After 48 hours of searching for Cooper, Pittman is relieved to have Cooper back.
"He's very exhausted and his paws are pretty sore, but other than that he's in good condition for what he's been through," said Pittman.
The labradoodle, was initially headed from Halifax to Deer Lake, Newfoundland on April 19th, when WestJet accidentally sent him to Hamilton, Ontario instead.
Cooper's owner, Pittman, received a call from WestJet Wednesday night to say her dog was flown to Hamilton and was on the loose outside.
"At first I had so many emotions and I was pretty upset. I felt like they weren't doing enough," said Pittman.
WestJet agents were out searching the area, but had a lot of ground to cover.
"I demanded that they send me there immediately because I feel like if I was on the ground, there'd be a better chance of getting him," said Pittman.
WestJet flew Pittman to Hamilton Thursday morning and started searching but had no luck.
Finally, Friday morning, Cooper was located and kept cornered until Pittman could arrive.
"He was in flight or flight mode," she said.
"He didn't even really recognize me at first until I had to approach him by getting down and being submissive to him."
Now that Cooper and Pittman are reunited, they are flying back to Halifax tomorrow.
"Really WestJet did what they could and they're accommodating me as best they can," said Pittman.
"We are thrilled to report that after being spotted this morning by the search team, Cooper was found and reunited with his owner," said Lauren Stewart, spokesperson for WestJet.
Pittman, recently moved to Halifax, and was sending Cooper her parents' place to dog sit while she heads to a wedding in Jamaica next week.
She's hoping for a smoother flight next week.
"The safety and care of pets, whether they are travelling as cargo or as carry-on, is always a top priority for WestJet and we sincerely apologize to the pet’s owner for what has occurred," said Stewart.
WestJet has provided room and board for Pittman in Hamilton and has offered to pay any vet bills Cooper may receive because of this incident.
