Prime Minister Justin Trudeau brazenly skated on icy territory this week when he mixed a little politics and hockey and told die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens hockey fans to set aside their loyalties and band together to cheer on the Ottawa Senators.
A self-proclaimed Canadiens fan, Trudeau led by example by hopping on the Sens' bandwagon and telling others to do the same.
"I think all Canadians will be rooting for the final Canadian team in the Stanley Cup Playoffs," Trudeau said Friday at a news conference in Brampton, Ontario. "We're all happy to support Ottawa right now, and even Torontonians and Montrealers can agree on this particular one."
He's not the only one cheering for the Sens.

After the Edmonton Oilers lost game 7 to the Anheim Ducks this week, the Senators became the only remaining Canadian team in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Senators advanced to the Eastern Conference finals after beating the New York Rangers.
The Ottawa Senators play the first (best-of-7) game tonight in the Easter Conference Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the PPG Paints Arena.
"I think it's great," says coach Guy Boucher on having PM @JustinTrudeau backing the Senators in the East final. #Sens
