Argentina Helicopter Crash Kills French Olympic Athletes

A helicopter crash in Argentina has claimed the lives of several Olympic sports stars as 10 people were killed in the accident.

On Monday the crash occurred when two helicopters collided in mid-air in northwest Argentina. The filming of a reality television show was taking place when the accident occurred in the province of La Rioja, near the town of Villa Castelli. Three French nationals were aboard the helicopters at the time of the crash including yachtswoman Florence Arthaud, Olympic swimmer Camille Muffat and Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine.

The country is in mourning for the athletes and the others who were killed in the tragic accident. The filming of the reality show Dropped featured the athletes, which takes them to various locations blindfolded and drops them in the wilderness. They then need to use their skills to find their way back to civilization.

The helicopters collided just after take-off and there were no survivors. It is unclear why the collision occurred and it is currently under investigation.
