Western Canada Theatre is bringing back the characters from a past favourite in their second show of the 40th anniversary season.
Don’t Dress For Dinner will open at the Sagebrush Theatre on Wednesday, October 8th.
The production is the sequel to Boeing Boeing, which was an audience favourite in 2013.
“We were looking for something funny and fun that was celebrating some of our past 40 years,” said Lori Marchand, General Manager of Western Canada Theatre. “The audience will be able to expect all the fun and the antics that they enjoyed during Boeing Boeing and enjoy it all over again with Don’t Dress For Dinner.”
The majority of the cast from 2013 is back, including Kamloops’ Kirk Smith playing the lead character Robert.
“He’s sort of been up and coming over the last few years, but I have to say he’s now for sure a recognized Kamloops star,” Marchand said of Smith. “We were really fortunate to bring back most of the cast that was in Boeing Boeing.”
The plot focuses around Bernard (played by Todd Thompson) planning a romantic weekend with his mistress while his wife is out of town, using Robert as an alibi.
When she hears Robert is visiting, Bernard’s wife starts making plans of her own, which leads to “more twists than a corkscrew.”
The play will run from October 8th to 17th at the Sagebrush Theatre with show times at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, October 17th.
Tickets are available at the Kamloops Live Box Office.
