Deadpool is heading to T.V., but it won’t be Ryan Reynolds.
Marvel announced on Wednesday that FXX, which is part of FX, has placed a series order for an animated Deadpool series.
A familiar face is on board as a Showrunner, Executive Producer and Writer of the series, as Donald Glover will take on that role.
Glover, also known as Childish Gambino in the music world, rose to fame as an actor on the show Community and recently created the Golden Globe winning show Atlanta for FXX.
His brother, Stephen Glover, worked with him on Atlanta and will be a Showrunner, Executive Producer and Writer for the Deadpool series as well.
“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,” said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming on FX. “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”
The show is expected to debut in 2018, which is also when season two of Glover’s hit show Atlanta is scheduled to air.
