"Arrested Development brings us structures, outerwear and choreography like no other comedy in history,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “Season Four marked the first foray by Netflix into original comedy programming and this time, the Bluths will collectively be spending more quality time with their millions of fans around the world.”
Season Five will premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2018, but a specific date has not yet been revealed.
Series creator, Mitchell Hurwitz, talked about the show’s return on Wednesday, taking a mini jab at the Trump family in the process.
“In talks with Netflix we all felt that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business, and their desperate abuses of power, are really underrepresented on TV these days,” Hurwitz said, before listing the entire Bluth family with names like Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric slipped in.
Arrested Development originally ran for three seasons on Fox from 2003-2006.
It was then rebooted by Netflix for a fourth season in 2013.
