Local DIY blogger and all-around design guru Colleen Pastoor is kicking her work up a scale in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday.
Aberdeen Mall today unveiled her Canada 150 art instillation paying tribute to Canadian cities, a one-of-a-kind project that will be on display for the next couple months in celebration of our country’s sesquicentennial.
Pastoor took to her blog in March to share her excitement and patriotic enthusiasm to be working on a giant project for Canada 150. If you aren’t familiar with her DIY blog Lemon Thistle, you should know Pastoor is the queen of brush lettering.
Several years ago, she made an art print with the names of famous Canadian cities in her quintessential style. She recreated it on a much larger scale for this unique installation, saying the three-panel, seven-foot high piece celebrating Canadian destinations is a much bigger, more rustic version of her original.
It will be the focal point for Aberdeen Mall’s Canada 150 initiative and the backdrop for its Canada 150 Faces of Canada contest, taking place from May 1st to May 31st. Aberdeen Mall is encouraging shoppers to take a picture with the installation and post it to social media using the hashtag #FacesofABM for a chance to win weekly prizes and be entered to win a trip for two to any city in Canada.
