Art in the Park will commemorate Canada’s 150th birthday this summer with an interactive mural project led by aboriginal artist Chris Bose.
At the Kamloops Arts Council’s annual Canada Day celebration, attendees will have a chance to help finish painting sections of the Beyond 150 mural, which incorporates nature, environment and aboriginal themes. The finished mural will be installed in a public location yet to be determined.
Running for more than 40 years, Art in the Park is part of the City’s July 1st celebrations along with the Kamloops Multicultural Society’s Folkfest at Riverside Park.
More than 100 artists and artisans will show and sell their work, from jewellery, photography and pottery to health products. The Kamloops Arts Council has made a map and list of all vendors available online.
Also new this year, in addition to the Beyond 150 interactive project, is an open mic stage.
The Kamloops Arts Council is in need of volunteers to help out beforehand and on the day of Art in the Park. Info on how to get involved is here.
