A 40 story luxury skyscraper in Grozny City, Chechnya, has gone up in flames. The building is the tallest in a complex that includes a 5-star hotel and luxury apartments in the Russian city.
The local emergency service has said that a call regarding a fire between the 4th and 5th floors was received around 6pm local time and according to images and video circulating online, every floor on the tower is now covered in flames. It is being reported that in just two hours, the fire had engulfed three sides of the skyscraper, the flames spreading rapidly due to the plastic trimming on the tower.
However, reports have also been circulating that the fire began on the top floor and that the bottom floor was on fire as well.
Despite the scale of the fire, all people have managed to escape the inferno and local police are saying that no one has been injured in the blaze. The massive fire has taken the collective efforts of approximately 300 people to extinguish the blaze and the area around the Grozny-City complex has been cordoned off.
