A Kamloops group of eight local non-profits dedicated to the end of homelessness in the city will receive over half a million dollars for local projects.
The HomeFree Collective will be hosting an event on Wednesday, April 15 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Cathedral where Kamloops MP Cathy McLeod and city officials will officially present these eight organizations with $684,540 in funding.
This funding is part of the Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS), which is a community-based program aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness by providing direct support to communities across Canada.

This funding will be for April 1, 2015 until March 31, 2017 with purposes ranging from the prevention of youth homelessness to housing placement for the most chronically homeless individuals.
The following eight projects will be receiving this funding.
ASK Wellness Society - Rapid Rehousing Project A Way Home
A Way Home - Youth Homelessness Coordinator
Interior Community Services - Youth Street Outreach Program
Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society - Clean Stop Program
New Life Mission – New Life Outreach Program
Phoenix Centre - Supportive Transitional Living in Recovery (STLR) Program
St Paul’s Cathedral - Out of the Cold Program
White Buffalo Aboriginal & Metis Health Society - Aboriginal Family & Community Response Project
These projects aim to work together to end chronic homelessness in the City of Kamloops.
