Search and Rescue crews from Kamloops have been called to assist other agencies in finding a missing mushroom picker near Lytton.
Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) is assisting crews from Merritt in the Botanie Valley to look for the missing man. According to Alan Hobler with KSAR, the mushroom picker has been missing since Saturday.
KSAR received the callout at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning to search for the lost mushroom picker. Crew members, search vehicles, and a certified SAR dog and handler are assisting with the call. This callout comes just 30 hours after the crew conducted a large-scale cold case search near Lytton. The current search area is a few kilometres north of Sunday's focus, but has similar terrain and crews will have the benefit of local knowledge they picked up on Sunday's search.
The areas are so close together they will stage Incident Command in the very location that was used for the cold case search of hunter Gordon Davis. It is too early to predict an outcome and details are still incoming, but Merritt, Kamloops, and Logan Lake SAR teams are acting quickly to get the search underway.
