Some local women in technology are holding a meet and greet to support others in the industry.
The Women in Tech Social will be held this Thursday.
The event will be an opportunity for women to network, whether they’re already working in technology, looking to enter, or just want to know more.
Community Builder at Kamloops Innovation Amada Chan says the idea for the Women in Tech Social was sparked by a recent event that saw only a handful of women in attendance.
“We noticed there weren’t a lot of women in the room. It was mostly dominated by men,” said Chan. [We] decided maybe we should get together and find out if there are other women in Kamloops working in technology.”
In February, they held their first Women in Tech Social, which saw around 20 women attend. They’re hoping this second event will be even more successful.
The event will be held at the Commodore on Thursday, June 11th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
