X-Files Remake Filmed Close to Home

There was some extraterrestrial activity in Ashcroft earlier this month as the crew filming the X-Files remake shot on location.

Film Commissioner for the Thompson Nicola District Victoria Weller says Director Chris Carter and his crew shot a substantial scene in the popular filming destination.

“What attracted them to the area was the desert and they filmed here for a number of days,” said Weller. “Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Kamloops, and Merritt are sort of like the golden triangle in there, including Spences Bridge. That whole area gets a lot of work and a lot of attention.”

The film crew did take advantage of the local economy.

“They did hire local crew and they also hired and used a lot of the infrastructure and knowledge from the Ashcroft Indian Band,” added Weller.

The original Mulder and Scully will be back for the remake after 13 years of being off the air.

The new mini-series will feature six episodes.

No official release date has been set.
