The man accused of shooting a Kamloops RCMP officer made another brief appearance in a Kamloops courtroom .
Kenneth Michael Knutson appeared via video conference Monday morning to set a date for his upcoming trial. However, it was delayed and Knutson will make another appearance to set a trial date on August 4th.
The 36-year-old faces four charges, including attempted murder, in relation to the shooting of RCMP Constable Jean-Rene Michaud.
Michaud was shot in the early morning hours of December 3rd, 2014 after pulling over a vehicle in the Bachelor Heights neighbourhood of Kamloops.
Michaud was dressed in full operational uniform, including a bullet proof vest, and he suffered serious injuries. He was admitted to the hospital, has undergone multiple surgeries, and continues to recover.
A 12-hour manhunt ensued following the shooting, resulting in Knutson’s arrest.
Knutson was well known to police before the 2014 incident and has an extensive criminal record.
