Community Improvements Approved Ahead of Canada's 150th Anniversary

Renovations are coming to a number of communities in the Thompson Nicola and Clearwater Districts.

Three projects in the area will be receiving over $300,000 for renovations.

Sun Peaks Resort has received $95,000 to renovate and upgrade their outdoor arena, Yellowhead Community Service Society has received over $145,000 to improve the Weyerhaeuser Pioneer Park in Clearwater, and the Eleanor Lake Playground and Blue River Community Park will be upgraded thanks to over $62,000 in federal support.

MP Cathy McLeod made the announcement on Wednesday.

“Community centres, parks, trails, and other public spaces contribute to the strength of our communities. By helping to renew them, we are ensuring that they remain useable for years to come while creating jobs and economic growth,” said McLeod.

Funding was provided through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, which financially supports renovations to community services ahead of Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 2017.
