New Democrat candidate Bill Sundhu says it felt good to solidify his spot in the campaign after he filed his nomination papers in Kamloops on Wednesday.
NDP leader Tom Mulcair was in Nanaimo on Tuesday and promised to reinstate emergency preparedness and disaster relief funding to the tune of $9 million as British Columbia continues to experience a very difficult and costly wildfire season.
Sundhu said while the money will go to help provinces, it is unclear how much with be allocated to each region.
“Mr. Mulcair has left opened the door to further funding depending upon need and what the provinces and local regions will say,” said Sundhu.

As for the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo region, Sundhu says the riding is a two horse race.
“I believe that essentially it’s a race in this riding and in this region, between the New Democrats and the Conservatives,” said Sundhu.
All candidates have until September 21st to file their nominations which, once approved, will solidify their candidacy in the federal election.
