The Kamloops Child Development Centre received a much needed face lift thanks to over $60,000 in provincial funding.
Renovations included an updated kitchen, a new washroom, electrical upgrades and new cabinet and counters for four classrooms.
MLA Terry Lake toured the renovated facility on Monday.
“The Kamloops Child Development Centre does important work on the north shore to support local families,” said Lake. “The facility has not had any upgrades since it opened in 1983 and I am pleased that there is now a more modern environment to support each child’s unique development needs.”
The centre provides full time day care service, offers out-of-school programs and education programs for special needs children. Programs are designed to help empower and develop children through programs that strengthen their emotional, physical, social, and cognitive skills.
“I want to thank Minister Lake and the province for stepping forward to provide this funding,” said Executive Director for the Centre Peter Mutrie. “Our facility needed renovations and we are now able to continue providing our services in an upgraded centre.”
The facility offers over 100 spaces for children of all abilities between the ages of nine months to 12 years of age.
