Imagine a completely automated home that anticipated your every move -- that’s what Telus is presenting in their Future Home located at Aberdeen Mall.
The miniature home showcases an automated security system, intelligent software that will tell you when your plants are thirsty, a meal planner and digital cookbook that will simultaneously update your digital grocery list, an indoor greenhouse, and a digital stove that practically cooks for you.
Most of what is showcased in the Future Home are prototypes, but the company wanted to show off the potential of their fibre optic technology.
Senior Regional Market Manager Clare Adams says the new technology won’t leave you in the dark in the event of a power outage.
“The fibre optic cable itself is not interfered with by electrical signals or the weather so it’s a far more resilient, robust system,” said Adams. “Potentially, at the moment, there are car accidents and things that take out power sources that are reducing the signal and we get small outages because of that. That doesn’t happen with the fibre optic system.”
You can see Future Home for yourself at Aberdeen Mall. It is located at the front entrance. Viewings will be available until Sunday, November 29th, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
