The man accused of shooting a Kamloops RCMP officer will plead guilty in March.
Kenneth Knutson was not present in court on Monday afternoon as his counsel informed the judge that he will plead guilty. Monday’s hearing was originally scheduled as a fix a date for Knutson’s trial.
Knutson is facing multiple charges, including the attempted murder of RCMP Constable Jean-Rene Michaud on December 2014.
After pulling a vehicle over in the Batchelor Height neighbourhood of Kamloops, Michaud was shot at by the driver of the vehicle.
Following the incident, police began a 12-hour manhunt which eventually lead to the arrest of Knutson.
Although dressed in full uniform, Michaud was treated for life-threatening injuries. He continues to recover after multiple surgeries.
Knutson is scheduled to enter his guilty pleas on March 17 in Kamloops court.
