Kamloops Casinos Work to Keep Gambling a Hobby for Residents

Whether it's buying a lottery ticket, placing a bet at a casino, or gambling online, most British Columbians gamble at least once a year.

With it being such a popular form of entertainment, Kamloops is holding a Responsible Gambling Awareness Week.

Between February 28th and March 5th local residents will have the chance to learn facts about gambling, and receive tips on how to keep it as a hobby, without it becoming an addiction.

It all starts on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at Cascades Casino Kamloops.

“Cascades Casinos Kamloops is proud to be a part of this initiative. Our players are our business and it is very important to us as the service provider, to ensure gambling is delivered in the most responsible way. Responsible Gambling Awareness Week is an excellent forum for both our players and our gaming staff. We are looking forward to hosting an event at the Cascades Casino Kamloops," said Tony Santo, CEO of Gateway Casinos and Entertainment.

On Thursday March 3rd from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., head to Chances Kamloops for some more information.

“Chances Kamloops is in the business of fun and in order to keep it that way, it’s important to us that we ensure our players have the tools and resources to make healthy and responsible gambling choices. We are supporting Responsible Gambling Awareness Week at our gaming facility because healthy customers are happy customers,” Bryce Herman, Director of Marketing for Chances Kamloops said.

Kamloops is one of six communities in B.C. to be hosting a Responsible Gambling Awareness Week.

Between March 6th and 12th Kelowna will host its own version of information sessions.

“The vast majority of British Columbians see gambling as entertainment, but a small number struggle with problem gambling. Our government is committed to providing support and treatment services to those who need it,” explained Terry Lake, Minister of Health.

These events are sponsored by BCLC and the Province of B.C.'s Responsible and Problem Gambling Program.
