Kamloops Chamber add new categories to Business Excellence Awards

With the 30^th anniversary of the Business Excellence Awards, the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce and TD are introducing four new award categories.

The call for nominations officially began on Wednesday after a press conference with past winners, sponsors and board members in attendance.

The board of directors announced the additions of a Project of the Year Award, Small Business of the Year Award, Not-for-Profit of the Year Award, and Environmental Stewardship Award.

“This year we celebrate the 30^th anniversary of the Business Excellence Awards in Kamloops. To mark this occasion, our board reviewed the entire awards program and are pleased to announce some changes to the program,” said Ryan Scorgie, President of the board. “When we reviewed all of the award categories, we identified some gaps and are proud to announce the four new categories.”

In addition, a change has been made to the awards criteria:

• Any for-profit, non-government-owned business or individual may be nominated for any award category.
• Not-for-profit organizations (excluding governments) may be nominated for the Environmental Stewardship Award, Project of the Year, Technology Innovator and Not-for-Profit of the Year.
• Governments may be nominated for the Project of the Year Award.
• Businesses must have a valid business license where required.
• Nominee must have been in business for a minimum of three years.
• Organizations, businesses or individuals may not nominate themselves for any award.
• Award winners may not be nominated in the same category for three years following their win, but can be nominated and win in other categories.
• Current Kamloops Chamber of Commerce board of directors may not be nominated.

The nominations close on June 30. Finalist will be announced on September 8 and the Business Excellence Awards Gala will take place on October 22.
