For all the bookworms and trivia nerds out there, the library is hosting its first ever Geek Week. Here’s what’s coming up:
Do you know what Bones’ actual name is? Or who played Geordi La Fordge in Star Trek the Next Generation?
How about the ghost of Gryffindor? Or what Hermione’s parents did for a living?
Test your knowledge at Frick and Frack Taphouse on March 31st. The library has been teasing these questions on its Facebook page so maybe you'll get a leg up on the competition by knowing the answers. Check it out at 8 p.m. if you think you’ve got what it takes. Players will battle it out in teams of six or less. Register online.
Snap a photo of yourself in costume holding your character’s favourite book and post it to the Facebook group before April 1st for a chance to win. They’ll be giving out prizes for the top two entries.
Make something geeky at a special edition of craft night on March 30th from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the downtown library. Register online.
Check out the library’s version of an escape room. Race to find clues, solve puzzles and unlock mysteries before the clock runs down. Register as an individual or as a group online. Spots are open March 28th and March 29th at 5:30 p.m. for those 12 years and up, and 7:30 p.m. for those aged 18 years and up. Some sessions are already full so register online ASAP.
This one will test your knowledge of downtown Kamloops. Teams will race around Victoria Street to solve riddles and attempt to complete their list of challenges first. It’s happening April 1st from 10 a.m. to noon. Register your team of four or as an individual online.
