Naked, agitated man on Columbia Street taken to hospital

RCMP had to halt traffic on Columbia Street this morning in order to detain a naked, agitated man and take him to Royal Inland Hospital.

At around 5 a.m. RCMP received a report of a naked man displaying angry behavior, walking near Columbia Street and First Avenue. Police found the man hanging off a retaining wall about 10 feet above the sidewalk. Eastbound traffic was shut down so he could be safely detained.

The 51-year-old man was apprehended and taken to Royal Inland Hospital to be assessed as RCMP concluded his behaviour was related to medical issues rather than criminal activity.

Traffic was re-opened again immediately after.
