Canadians will be out and active on June 3rd for National Health and Fitness Day and there are a few ways to get involved in Kamloops.
Senator Nancy Greene Raine played a huge part in encouraging hundreds of communities across Canada to proclaim the first Saturday in June National Health and Fitness Day.
Greene Raine, who is recovering from cancer treatment, recently penned a column pointing out only 15% of adults get the recommended 150 minutes of exercise per week. June 3rd is a day dedicated to combatting the country’s “inactivity problem” with the goal of making Canada the fittest nation on earth.
It’s ambitious, Greene Raine writes, but not unachievable.
In Kamloops, there will be free yoga in McDonald Park at noon on Saturday — and every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in July and August thanks to Kamloops Hot Yoga.
There will also be free access to the Tournament Capital Centre from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and free entry at the Brock Pool from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone who attends National Health and Fitness Day events in the city can enter to win one of two prize packages worth more than $500.
