Warm weather and low water levels has forced the provincial government to suspend fishing in the Middle Shuswap River.
From Thursday, July 30th to September 30th, all angling in the Middle Shuswap River and downstream of Shuswap Falls to Mable Lake will no longer be allowed.

The closure will protect fish stocks at a time when they are vulnerable to the hot weather conditions. Trout are also known to congregate in refuge pools, which can make them more vulnerable to angling procedures.
The closures are being implemented by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Wildlife Management Unit.
B.C. government biologists continue to monitor 40 other key angling streams and will issue suspensions where needed.
