During a press conference Monday, investigators said Kingston and Kelsey Annese had been in a relationship but had recently broken up. Early Sunday morning, Kingston went to Annese's Geneseo residence where he found Hutchinson in the company of Annese. An altercation ensued and both Allese and Hutchinson received fatal stab wounds. Kingston then took his own life.

Geneseo Police Department reported that three deaths had occurred in a home in Geneseo, a town close to the State University of New York (SUNY) where Hutchinson attended school.

Hutchinson was in his senior year of college at SUNY. He played on the school’s hockey team and was studying geography and business. He also volunteered his time at the Geneseo volunteer fire department.

Hutchinson was a former hockey player for the Coquitlam Express Junior A Hockey Club before going down south to pursue his education.

Like Hutchinson, Annese was a student athlete at SUNY, playing on the women’s basketball team. Kingston was a former student of the school.

The State University of New York released a statement Monday in regards to the tragedy, saying the college is assisting with the investigation.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s office is also assisting with the investigation. Sheriff Tom Dougherty shared his condolences on the county’s Facebook page.

“Please join us in coming together to support the students of Geneseo, the residents of Geneseo and the families who lost so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.”

An investigation is currently underway into how the three died.
