Southbound traffic remains completely closed, but DriveBC hopes to have southbound traffic open by 8 a.m.
The highway was shut down early on Monday morning due to a dangerous goods fire about 25 kilometres south of Merritt.
The fire also prompted an air quality advisory for the region, which remains in effect.
There are alternate routes available via Highways 1 and 8 (Merritt) or Highways 3 or 97 (Kelowna).
The next update will come at 7 a.m.
