Hikers planning on visiting Whistler Blackcomb's extensive trail network will be in for a treat this fall.
One of the most notable parts of the resorts ambitious multi-phase expansion plan is a 130 metre long suspension bridge at the very peak of Whistler Mountain, which stands at an elevation of 7,156 ft above sea level.
"Whistler Blackcomb is really excited about this project," said public relations supervisor Sarah Mordem.
"It will really enhance the guest experience and give our guests an opportunity to experience the summit of Whistler in a unique way."
Construction will begin this summer on the bridge and will be accessible by the Peak Express chair as well as the mountains hiking trail network during the summer months.
The bridge will be about 30 metres longer than the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge atop the Sea to Sky Gondola attraction near Squamish and will stand as one of the highest elevation suspension bridges in the world.
