A Vernon school was under lockdown Wednesday morning.
A call came into the Vernon Secondary School around 9:00 a.m., saying they saw someone entering the school with what looked like a weapon.
Immediately the school went under lockdown and the RCMP was called.
RCMP arrived and searched the building and found a student with an air soft pistol. The student is currently being interviewed by the RCMP and the lockdown was lifted by 9:50 a.m.
Joe Rogers, Superintendent of Schools, for School District 22 said students and staff were not in danger and protocol was effectively followed.
The RCMP and the School District Safe Schools’ Team will continue to investigate the situation.
