The Kamloops Blazers did not have a successful showing as they were defeated 4-0 by the Kelowna Rockets in game one of the WHL playoffs series on Friday .
This game was all Rockets. They controlled the puck throughout the entire game, outshooting the Blazers 48-15. The Blazers could not get anything going all night as they faced the energized and strong Kelowna Rockets team.
We could have guessed that this would be a physical series, and that was certainly the case in game one on Friday. The pushing and shoving got started early as Jack Cowell dropped the mitts with Jackson Shepard five minutes into the game, and things got more and more heated from there.
The Rockets scored two quick goals late in the first period to grab the lead, and the Blazers could not recover.
Connor Ingram had a strong game between the pipes, stopping 44 of the Rockets' 48 shots, but it wasn't enough as his team struggled to hold possession of the puck or get any offence going.
The Rockets scored another in the second and a fourth goal in the third period to wrap things up.
Rockets' netminder Michael Herringer earned his third career playoff shutout, stopping all 15 shots he faced.
The second game of the series will take place on Saturday, March 25th at Prospera Place.
