The first call for volunteers has gone out with regards to the 2017 55+ BC Games, which are coming to Vernon next year.
The annual multi-sport competition for seniors over the age of 55 is coming to the North Okanagan from September 12th - 16th, 2017, with over 3,000 expected to flock to Vernon for the competition.
With that many athletes coming to town, 1,500 community volunteers will be needed to make sure everything runs smoothly and the first call for help has been sent out. You can volunteer your services by visiting the games’ website.
The call for volunteers isn’t the only progress that was announced Thursday either. The Host Society also unveiled the website for the games and the Vernon Lodge & Conference Centre was confirmed as the host hotel.
“We’re thrilled to be the host hotel for the 2017 55+ BC Games,” said the hotel’s GM, David Gibbs. “To welcome participants from across the province during our first year of ownership of the Vernon Lodge is an exciting opportunity.”
The 55+ BC Games started in 1987, making the 2017 games the 30th annual edition of the event.
