The Kamloops Blazers announced today they have sent 19-year-old defenseman Dan Gatenby to the Tri-City Americans in exchange for a conditional seventh round pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
Gatenby was acquired by the Blazers in August 2016 after spending one season with the Kelowna Rockets.
“We have an influx of young defensemen ready to step into our line-up this upcoming season,” general manager Stu MacGregor said in a media release. “We believe this gives Dan a chance to play regularly and also allows us to give our young players opportunity.”
In 41 games with the Blazers in 2016-17, Gatenby had a goal and six assists for seven points. He also suited up in five playoff games for the Blazers.
The Blazers also announced last week the signing of first-round pick Josh Pillar and goaltender Dylan Garand.
