Canucks prevail against Predators, move on to face Oilers in 2nd round

The Vancouver Canucks are on to the second round after a 1-0 victory in game six against the Nashville Predators.

Both team’s goalies were the talk of the night, as the lone goal of the match came in the final minutes of regulation.

For Vancouver, Arturs Silovs stopped all 28 shots he faced and became the first rookie netminder in team history to snag a series-clinching win and the 14th in NHL history to do so with a shutout.

As the clock wound down in the third period, Pius Sutter received a pass in front of the net and tapped the puck in.

The last minute of the game was exhilarating after Elias Lindholm was sent to the penalty box with 34 seconds left.

With their goalie pulled, the Predators threw everything they had at the Canucks as panic ensued in front of the net to block the puck.

Eventually, the horn went off and all the players and fans breathed a sigh of relief.

The Canucks will now face the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the playoffs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are in action today as they look to rebound from a 3-1 series deficit and defeat the Boston Bruins in game seven.
