According to MMA Fighting, the fight will be sanctioned by the Nevada Athletic Commision and be listed as a professional boxing match. As a result, if Mayweather pulls off the victory, he’ll become the first boxer to have a perfect 50-0 record.
Boasting an undefeated record with 49 wins, Mayweather is considered by many to be the favourite to come out on top.
Although McGregor (0-0 in boxing, 21-3 in MMA) has never competed in a professional boxing match, he is still considered to be one of the best mixed martial artists in the world.
The fight will air live on pay-per-view.
At this moment in time, there are no confirmed details regarding how much the pay-per-view will cost or who will fight on the undercard. However, it’s still very probable that this fight could go down as one of the most expensive in the history of the sport.
Until the fight commences in 73 days time, enjoy these posts from social media reacting to the breaking news.
