Setting realistic habits

It's Sunday of the long weekend. You either made plans for each day this weekend, knowing it was going to be sunny, or you didn't make plans and you're winging it.

Let's get real though, no matter what you did, you wanted some fun. There's a good chance you did get in your fun, but there’s this dreading reality knowing that it is going to take a few days this week to recover from the the weekend. There's also a reality that life continues after all the fun of long weekends. You go back to work, your family and friends and the demands of your everyday schedule.

Let's get even more realistic, you wanted to feel good this weekend. If you have had any form of a healthy lifestyle, at any point in your life, you'll know that you felt really good during that time and you liked that feeling. As humans, we have a natural aversion to feeling bad and an opposite and equal attraction to feeling good. I know I'd rather feel good than bad and I've realized the more I share my feelings with other humans, more often than not, the other human feels the same way. Isn't it wonderful that we're more alike than we are different?

So, then the question is, "how can we feel good in our mind, body and soul and also have fun while we indulge on weekends?"

Lucky for you, I'm going to tell you how. Ready?

Do the things that make you feel good before the weekend and balance that with having fun and indulge on the weekend. Then, do the things that make you feel good after the weekend.

This is your life. There doesn't need to be pauses or 'start-overs' or 'get-back-on-the-wagons,' all the fun and all of the shenanigans are a part of this life. When we learn to set realistic goals, like wanting to feel good, and actually believe that life doesn't stop the minute we indulge in alcohol, treats or food that we normally don't have, we start really living. We create realistic habits, we live our life from the good feelings and leave the worry behind the feelings of guilt and over-indulgence.

The bottom line is this; enjoy your life fully. Love all of the people around you the best way you know how, put things in your body that make you feel good and enjoy the things that taste good. Stick with the good habits and know that the big picture of your life is far more important than one weekend or evening of indulgence! We only get one of these wild and amazing lives so, live it the way that feels best to you.

Hugging you hard & sending big long-weekend love,

Roz
