Live it Now: Balance

Hello Friends! Happy first week of summer!

Many of you may have heard about my new adventure… if not, I’ve purchased the infrared Oxygen Yoga & Fitness Studio in Aberdeen Village that closed abruptly on May 22, and I am over the moon excited!!!

Wellness is a top priority for me: body, mind and soul. Sharing it with others is the gift.

I am finally dusting off the dream I spoke of in my last post. It has been a humbling and all-consuming few weeks of lawyers, bankers, paperwork, and red tape... and I am truly grateful for it all.

Especially for the business partner whose belief in me has helped me feel whole in more ways than one.

I have found myself not embracing the balance I so desperately need right now. I am admittedly overwhelmed with both joy and stress. Biting off more than I can chew several times a day.

Prioritizing task lists is one of my favorite things to do, checking them off is so rewarding.

Step one: make my bed upon rising, such an easy one, and they say it starts your day off on the right foot.

Yoga is usually step two, at least some sun salutations or purposeful mantras to ensure the mind is on board, followed by movement of any kind; run/bike/workout/hike etc. I have not been caring for myself as well as I should, which has left me a bit scattered and impatient.

While out last week with family, we, like the rest of Kamloops, witnessed the Batchelor hills ignite in seconds.

We have friends who reside there as many of you do. The sheer rate of speed it moved left us all completely speechless. How powerless we can be in moments like those.

The wind creating chaos and fear as it galloped towards backyards. As if in a movie, within minutes the sky filled, and the ground pounded with those brave enough to charge forward and protect.

It was truly spectacular how fast the response was, how accurate and precise their aim was, how they did what they are trained to do so seamlessly… they are truly heroes… they are not made... they are born that way. It’s an intricate part of who they are.

They left me feeling so inspired and my heart full of hope and love. Strangers helping strangers, connected forever by unforeseeable events. How much worse it all could have been. Literally, too close to home.

With everything going on in my world, watching that fire dropped me right back into ‘now’.

To step outside myself again and take a good hard look at the beautiful life I am so blessed to be living. To MAKE time and meet a friend for coffee, rather than just saying ‘let’s get together’ and not follow up. To look up from my phone and listen rather than half dedication to both ‘conversations’. Be here... right NOW.

Simple stuff is the best, we know it’s true.

A walk by the river, titling our face to sun and just breathe. Placing our hands on our heart and just feel its life-affirming beat, what makes it dance without reservation? Only you know the answers, as I know mine.

So I ask you all to just take a moment, jump off the hamster wheel of everyday living, and just BE in your NOW!

I am mostly talking to myself here.. C’mon Dina .. you got this!

No fear! Life is waiting… live it now!
