Live it Now: Witness

Hello Friends! The storm that rumbled through last night is worth acknowledging! WOW! I attempted to out drive it in Miss Lily Jones (our cute little 1972 VW super beetle)... Topless... Picked up my Deja from work and we were caught up in the wind, sand, rain and glorious amounts of shrieks and laughter. There was a point that the windshield wipers couldn’t keep up and had my head out the side to see! People were honking and giving us the thumbs up … encouraging us... our bravery or stupidity!?!

Although at the heaviest point of the downpour stopping to put the roof up (which takes a few minutes) would have drenched us more and we were so so soooooo close to home we committed! The magnificent lightning and thunder rolls felt like they were in the back seat with us. It will be one of my favourite memories… Ever. One day when Deja is my age... She will tell the story... "remember that time in Miss Lily when we got caught in that storm?" Just us... Our fun car and Mother Nature. Only her and I understand the feeling we shared. We are each other's witness to it. We can collaborate the story with our laughter and joy... And a dash of fear... Flash flooding and Miss Lily don’t compliment each other. When I ponder and wonder about life some words linger and they become the muse for this column. Witness hit me hard last week. Do we need a witness to our life to prove that it happened? That we grew or not? That we evolved or not? Do our loved ones who have journeyed home take that part of us with them? Were they our only witness? In specific ways, I think yes... While I can bear witness to my life and the transformations within... My daughter, Deja is the only one who witnessed "that time in the storm." I’ve spiraled down the rabbit hole a few times over the past 10 days about this. I won’t share at this time, what I came up with. However, the support I’ve received… The people who bear witness for me and remind me that I am my OWN witness are valued beyond words. I’ve been spending time with a lovely human and her herd (Vivian Evans) working through some "stuff" and while she encourages and witnesses my shift... She only knows me as I am right now, she knows only this version of me... Living in the after math of the stormy bits of life … Oh yah.. It's a great metaphor! Dance in that storm, surrender and let it soak you. Be YOUR own witness to a life well lived! In case you’ve forgotten... YOU ARE SPECTACULAR!
