The Sinixt First Nation was declared extinct by the Indian Act in 1956, but in a landmark ruling in 2017 they were able to prove that they have not lost their connection to a huge swath of southern B.C., from Revelstoke to the U.S. border, and still have Aboriginal rights to the territory. Hear some of the stories from the book and join us for discussion of the story's contemporary significance and a question period. This event is free but registration is recommended to secure your seat. Register online with your library card at www.tnrl.ca or contact the library at [email protected] or 250-372-5145.
