It’s a new year and that means new products are lining the shelves at every store.
On Monday, BrandSpark International announced the results of their 14th annual Best New Product Awards after surveying 20,000 Canadians on new health, beauty, food, drinks and household products in 50 different categories.
“With thousands of new products launched into the marketplace every year and many new ways to buy products including e-commerce sites, consumers are looking for ways to identify which products are really the best and deserving of their dollars,” said BrandSpark president Robert Levy.
Peer reviews might have a little more weight than you think, actually. In fact, six in 10 Canadians regularly search for reviews, four out of five talk about their experiences with products and a quarter submit reviews on websites.
A whopping 70% of women and 60% of men said they base their purchases on what was recommended.
In total, half of Canadians check online ratings and read both negative and positive feedback in detail.
Canadians aren’t shy about trying new products, with 75% saying it’s something they like to do. About half say they look for new and innovative products while shopping.
