Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I’m from Vernon and I moved to Kamloops almost five years ago. I graduated from TRU in 2014 and decided to make the city my home.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My mom because she has to like me. Hi Mom!
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Anywhere in Europe or Southeast Asia. I haven’t traveled much, but I hope to.
What is your favourite activity?
Drinking local wine, walking along River’s Trail, reading a good book.
If you had to choose, would it be: pizza, tacos or burgers?
Burgers!
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I don’t know… One time my mom told the radio station it was my birthday and they sang to me on air. I was 16 at the time so it was obviously mortifying.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Seeing Shania Twain in person. She hugged me. Life changing.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Every memory I have spending summers at my grandparents’ cabin on Shuswap Lake.
Where do you volunteer or give back in the community?
I participated in the Strong Kids Challenge for the YMCA a couple of times. Great campaign, great cause.
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Exploring the trails or taking a drive to one of the beautiful lakes.
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some alone time?
Probably Peterson Creek. I used to live right near the trailhead and would often go for a walk when I needed to clear my head.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
Any kind of initiative that gets young people involved in conversations on important issues, politically and socially, would be great to see.
What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The people! People in Kamloops truly care about their community, making it a great place to live.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I have a severe peanut allergy. Not really a deep dark secret, but an important thing to note if you plan to bring me cookies.
What is the name of your business/organization?
KamloopsBCNow
Why did you get into/start your business?
I’ve always wanted to be a writer and here I am!
What is the goal of your business?
To be relatable, a place where readers come to learn about what’s happening in the community, what’s trending and what people are talking about.
What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
Listening to my own voice on audio recordings. It’s like nails on a chalkboard.
What do you always find yourself saying?
‘How do you spell that?’
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, whom would you select?
Adele. She is hilarious and I think we’d have a great time.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My first byline! Even if it was spelled wrong. I have it framed somewhere.
