In Focus | Bailey Dagneau

Meet Bailey. She's born and raised in Kamloops but has also lived in Vancouver and London!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My five-year-old daughter Ariella. She is a continual source of inspiration, motivation, and fun! I love seeing life through her eyes.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Motivo! I love their almond milk cappuccinos and macaroons.

Describe yourself in one word.
Strong.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I believe I am right where I am supposed to be right now, but an African safari wouldn't hurt!

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I love hiking and exploring Kamloops and the area.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Probably something my dad did in my teen years, he is quite a joker. Thanks to him I am never embarrassed anymore!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
The birth of my daughter. She filled me with such love, strength, and purpose. She inspires me every day to hold myself to a standard that I would want for her. Love, at first sight, is very possible!

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I grew up on a large acreage in Rivershore and being able to experience life on a farm was really cool. We would get to see foals being born, endless litters of kittens, get food from the garden, and ride bareback in the fields. It taught me a lot about life with the loss of animals and how to work hard.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I volunteer with my nutrition and coaching services as well as in the children's ministry at my church.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
For every child to have water, food, and a safe place.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
The outdoors!

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
Children's needs and supporting local.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
Community! This past year with the fires I was so impressed by all the volunteers that really treated the evacuees as they would have liked to of been treated. I was proud hearing all of the positive feedback.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. A trip to Europe with my daughter.
2. To help women break up with dieting.
3. To build a legacy like my grandpa and dad did.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
Art is my other passion.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Instagram.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Bailey Dagneau Personal Training & Nutrition.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I come from a very sports-oriented background, it has always been a huge part of my life. I was injured badly during my first-year college and coming back from that was hard but really showed me how much I love overall wellness and how important it is.

What is the goal of your business?
To show people that they can achieve great results from balance and sustain them for life.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Balancing work life with being a mom.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Actions speak louder than words.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Clear goals = clear results. If you really want something, write it down and the steps you need to achieve it and get to work!

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My daughter, she is so incredibly special to me.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To improve the local community and its great for environmental sustainability.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Aside from my daughter, I'm very proud of practising what I preach. It isn't easy, especially as a woman in today's society, to value yourself and practice balance in your lifestyle and I have finally achieved that.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My cousin Calli and friend Bri's business, MakeShift. They host awesome creative workshops and events that showcase local talent.

My choice for the KamloopsBCNow In Focus spotlight is:
Makeshift.
