Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I was born and raised in Prince George, and have lived in Kamloops for the past 28 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
While I have many wonderful people in my life, I have to say my husband of nine years, Kyle Schwitek. We have such similar interests and likes, that it's always so fun spending time with one another!

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Soul Stones, because of the product that they sell, as well as the energy that the two ladies who own the store have.

Describe yourself in one word.
Fun-loving.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Russia. I have always been drawn to Russian culture, literature, and history from the time I was a little girl.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Definitely hiking! Kamloops has so many beautiful hiking spots both in and around the city.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
When I was painting my kitchen, and took one step off a stepping stool and broke my foot in three separate places. I wish I had a better backstory.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Starting this business, believe it or not. It gave me such a spiritual boost and has made me feel, for the first time, that I'm in the right place in my life, and that I've come home.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Going to Disneyland with my family when I was a young girl. I have always felt super connected with the whole atmosphere that Disneyland gives off! I would go every year if I could.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I used to volunteer at PITSTOP for a few years in Kamloops, where I cooked and served for those less fortunate. And while this does not relate to Kamloops, I have also done a lot of fundraising for the homeless communities of East Vancouver, as well.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
If I could change one thing, it would be for people to be more open-minded and kind.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Kenna Cartwright Park.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
More accessibility, resources, and shelters for the growing homeless population, as well as more awareness, help, and acceptance of mental health - as the two often go hand in hand.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The wide-open spaces, the accessibility to being able to live an active lifestyle, and the sunshine-filled days.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Go to Russia.
2. To continue to grow my business.
3. Hike the Himalayas.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I am more introverted than people think.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Both through my facebook page - Sol Serendipity Mala and Gemstone Creations, as well as my Instagram page: @solserendipity.

What is the name of your business/organization?
SolSerendipity.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I have always been interested in crystals and rocks since elementary school! But my love of yoga leads me to encompass all things spiritual and take the dive into starting my own mala and gemstone business.

What is the goal of your business?
To provide healing jewelry to my customers.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
I have struggled with remaining patient and reminding myself that everything in life has its time.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Karma!

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
That you meet everyone for a reason; there are no chance meetings. Everyone we meet serves a purpose to the betterment of ourselves.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
P!nk.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To support local economies!
