Meet Isabel Gray! Isabel just moved to Kamloops from Fort St. John. She is an understanding woman who loves to take the kids to Riverside Park!
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I have recently moved to Kamloops this spring from Fort St. John with my spouse and two children. I grew up just up the road in Valemount.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
I love spending time with my children! They are changing so fast and are always teaching me things!
What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Modern Family Boutique is my favourite store. Jenn is the sweetest and I love they support Canadian companies and bring in the cutest kids clothes and items!
Describe yourself in one word.
Understanding.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Greece. I have always wanted to see the white sandy beaches and historic buildings.
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I love taking my kids to Riverside Park. There are so many fun events to go to, as well as the spray park.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Haha, so many things happen all the time!
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Becoming a mom has inspired me to do better and be better. To eat better, be more eco-friendly and chemical-free.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Every time we would go to the Kootenays to visit my grandparents, as we were leaving, my Gran would give each of my siblings and I a film canister (yeap those old fashioned tiny tubes that held film!) of gummy bears and smarties. It always started our extensive journey home on a fun note!
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I give back by shopping local.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
It would be amazing if big corporate were more eco-friendly and started rethinking their packaging, making more packaging recyclable or biodegradable
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
I like to take some time and walk around McArthur Island, but still looking for that perfect spot.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I'm still pretty new to Kamloops to really see this just yet.
What do you think makes Kamloops great?
So many things! its beautiful scenery and its mild climate for starters!
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
-Visit Greece.
-Foster a child.
-Get a full 8 hours night sleep (mama of two smallies)!
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I've always wanted to be a foster mom.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Instagram is the best way.
What is the name of your business/organization?
@isabel_the_mama.
Why did you get into/start this business?
I wanted to show that we aren't perfect and I want other mamas who are struggling to know they aren't alone. The "perfect" Instagram life isn't real!
What is the goal of your business?
To help other moms feel they aren't alone during this journey.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Time management.
What do you always find yourself saying?
"Sorry, I'm running a few minutes late. I'll be there in five."

Do what works for you and your family.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
There are so many amazing people out there. But maybe Ellen DeGeneres is very inspiring to me, or Oprah!
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
So many reasons. It keeps our money here and helps put food on my neighbours table. I also love the connection you make while helping a small shop, getting to know them.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I think being a mom.
