Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I am from Surrey and have lived in Kamloops for 1.5 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
Definitely my two daughters, we love to go on adventures together.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Red Beard. I love the beer and the girls love the elephant ears.

Describe yourself in one word.
Laughing.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Spain, my grandparents loved it there and I have never been.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
100% music in the park. So awesome that we have that in the summer.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Hmm, my daughter saying "hi dad!" to a random guy once. He was very good looking, my husband was amused lol.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
When our little doggy had gone missing we took to social media for help. Our picture was shared over 500 times with strangers even going out to look for her. One family even had a megaphone calling her name. This all happened on Christmas eve! We found our pup safe and sound and our Christmas was complete with the TRUE meaning of the Season.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My dad would make stock pots full of popcorn and we would gather and watch movies together.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
We fund-raise for the Heart and Stroke foundation each year through my daughters' school. I have also done fundraising for the Underwear Affair and donate to the Samaritan's Purse at Christmas time. We like to lend a hand in our neighborhood by help cleaning up on Earth Day with Lightning Rubbish Removal.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Where to start... although it takes away from the meaning of "volunteer" I would like to see it mandatory for each member of the community to contribute their time in some way. I feel that people are more compassionate towards others when they have stepped in their shoes.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Any of the many beautiful hikes around town. Although I am just still getting to know these gems.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I would like to see more splash parks that allow dogs.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
Aside from the gorgeous weather, I'd say the number of community activities available.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Own property in another country to vacation to.
See as many different countries as I can.
And maybe finish an indoor photo-studio.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I tried out for Canadian Idol first season ever.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Personally or Social Media: @jennifersimonphotography.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Jennifer Simon Photography.

Why did you get into/start this business?
2013.

What is the goal of your business?
Help create forever memories.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Time management for sure.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"Yes," it's so hard to say no!!

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
I always think WIN/WIN. If you get what you're after then WIN. But if not, then another door will open and WIN!

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I would have to say, Joseph Vitale. He is a spiritual teacher who was in the movie, The Secret. I would love to pick his mind and take in all his wisdom.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Absolutely, and you'll get a better product.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Being a mom, hands down.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Lightning Rubbish Removal- Joseph Simon. He influenced us to come up here to Kamloops and gives back so much to this town. I see Joe helping others daily and truly putting his heart and soul into his work.

My choice for the KamloopsBCNow In Focus spotlight is:
Joseph Simon.

Some general comments I would like to share are:
Be kind. It's free, it's easy, and it's contagious. Think of what makes you happy and do more of that, whatever it is, however simple it is. Stay present. Go outside more and take deeper breaths. And ALWAYS create forever memories!

And of course, call me and my team for your future photo-shoots!
