Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I am from Mackenzie and have lived in Kamloops since 2012, prior to that in Chase for 16 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My three teenage sons because time is so fleeting with our children and I want to make the most of it now and create some great memories.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Fern and Frond because it is so unique, and the arrangements are creative and use unusual flowers and greenery that you don't normally find.

Describe yourself in one word.
Uplifting.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Europe. I love the history and culture there. I spent two and a half weeks in Italy last summer with my oldest son and fell in love with the country. Greece, Spain, Portugal are just a few countries on the list that I would love to experience.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Our trail systems here are amazing, we have hiking and biking outside our front doors. I live close to Peterson Creek and love hiking the trails and looking at the city from there.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
The late 80's ...haha.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Twelve years ago, I owned three retail brick and mortar businesses and had 3 toddlers. I hated having to put them in childcare, so was looking for a way to stay home but still own a business and having an online business was how I was able to do that. Over the 12 years, I have watched hundreds of women be able to do the same and be both the best Mom they can be while owning a business and being a successful entrepreneur. It inspires me daily! Moms are pretty amazing and I think of what example they are showing their kids every single day.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Summers with my grandparents who lived in Kelowna. They would take us kids and my cousins for a month or two months each summer and we spent our days on the beach, waterslides, Fred Flinstone park, and picking cherries. I remember Saturday morning cartoons in my grandparents home like it was yesterday.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I have three teenage boys, so at this point in my life, I do a lot of volunteering with their sports and in school. I am excited to be a part of the 100 Women who Care Kamloops organization in the fall, I love the organization and what they do.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Kindness, I would love to see more KINDNESS in our world, it can make such a difference. People today hide behind a keyboard and use words as weapons.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
I love walking down near the water at Riverside Park, it is truly stunning there at sunset.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I love our artwork and murals that are on some of our downtown store buildings, I would love to see more of that. It makes everything beautiful and attracts people to our downtown.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
People are active, it has a small-town feel, and we have the most beautiful 4 seasons here.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Hike the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Speak on a global stage. Host an annual women's retreat.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I am a super easy going person, but when my kids were little, I was that over the top new Mom. I read all the books, and wanted to do it all "right," my poor firstborn was so overprotected and in a bubble. That changed dramatically for my next two boys.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
https://www.facebook.com/JenniferPiperKennedy and https://www.instagram.com/jennpiperkennedy/. Facebook and Instagram are my go-to for Social Media accounts! I love connecting with others there!

What is the name of your business/organization?
Mōdere - with our hero product Liquid Biocell - the most Bioavailable Collagen/Hyaluronic Acid on the market.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I wanted to own an online business so I could be home with my 3 boys. I chose this one because health has always been an important part of my life.

What is the goal of your business?
It is two-fold. To help people live healthier lives and slow down that aging process... And to help women entrepreneurs create fun, uplifting communities and succeed through the power of culture and connection.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Time management, being a single parent juggling a global, multimillion-dollar business while trying to be the best Mom at the same time is a struggle I try to time block and be present in everything that I do, but it is a juggle.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"You've GOT this!"

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Never quit on a bad day. Take 24 hours to brush yourself off and get back at it.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Rachel Hollis. She is an author and inspirational speaker who is super down to earth and REAL. She understands the struggle of owning a business and being a great Mom, and she is funny! Plus our Instagram stories would rock!

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
I used to own 3 retail businesses and I know how much our local businesses support our communities, sports teams, and schools. Spending our money locally keeps those businesses alive and they provide jobs to our youth, make our downtown core beautiful.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Two years ago, the company I was with for years closed. I am the sole supporter in my family and thankfully had many companies reach out. I quickly partnered with Modere and our team hit the highest level in the company in 5 weeks. We haven't stopped sin

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Terri Axani, not only is she one of the most active volunteers in our community, but her Divine Tours business is the best for a fun girl's day, team event or family fun!

My choice for the KamloopsBCNow In Focus spotlight is:

Some general comments I would like to share are:
One of the best parts of my business is seeing how a simple product can make such an impact on people's health. I have athletes, men and women and people of all ages who are having results with my Liquid Collagen, and we have clinical scientific studies to back the results. When you can make a difference in how people feel and live... it never feels much like "work."
