Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I am from Vancouver and I have lived in Kamloops for almost 5 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My husband. Because he makes me laugh and even if he doesn't get me, he lets me be me.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Art we Are. I love the vibe and their great chocolate quinoa cake.

Describe yourself in one word.
Heart (I put my heart into what I do).

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
My summer cottage. Because it is a place of peace, adventure and people I love. Best place to be in the summer!

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Anything outdoors. Hiking, Mountain biking, being with my pups.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Hmm... Maybe not the MOST embarrassing... but I was running with my dogs in Peterson the other day with one headphone in. I thought I was alone so I was belting out the song and also talking with my dogs. Then I saw some humans.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
This may sound trite, but honestly, it is meeting the people I work with. The clients I see, inspire me. Life can be as beautiful as it can be messy and confusing. Facing life can be challenging and scary. However, I meet people every day who chose to be courageous and face life. How could I not be inspired?

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
It is probably in my summer cottage. I remember being on a 'ski bob', a small banana boat that gets pulled behind the boat, at about 8 years old. My dad was driving and he had a 'game on' look in his eyes. I did too. I silently challenged him to a dual. He was going to try to knock me off and I was going to try and stay on. I remember, at one point, the skibob was submerged. He must've had too much slack and gunned it. I hung on, probably with one hand. I popped out of the water and he had a look of surprise and uncertainty on his face. He saw my smile- knew I was okay and laughed until he couldn't breathe. I think he accepted defeat that day to his 8-year-old daughter!

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I have always volunteered in the community, something my family really valued growing up. Currently, I volunteer with Kamloops Cancer Connections, a group of professionals trying to bring awareness to available local supports for those facing cancer. I am also helping my husband with a 'Knapweed Knockdown' to help manage the Knapweed, an invasive species here in Kamloops. I also recently joined the United Way Women's Leadership Council, and am really excited about being able to help with community projects.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
More kindness and less judgement. More understanding of what it is like to create and sustain healthy mental health. More understanding within the community when life gets challenging and we need to lean on each other.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
I can't tell you... then I wouldn't be able to go there alone!

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
Continued positive community connections. I think we do a lot right and that makes me happy to be a part of this community!

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
Music in the Park!

What do you always find yourself saying?
Life is weird!

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
If you have one person/animal/place you can truly be yourself... Be there often.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I have to choose just one person! Probably my family unit (including pets). If it's one unit does it count as one?!

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To support local families, encourage community connection, and reduce carbon footprint.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Healing Spaces!

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
